A visit with Uncle Dave

Callie's Great Uncle Dave was in town visiting and it was nice seeing him and it was nice for Dave to finally meet Callie. (Aunt Fran was missed)

At first Callie was first pretty shy but soon enough she armed up to Uncle Dave and of course she wanted to see all the pictures on his camera.

Callie's Dance Class

Callie just started dancing lessons at a local dance studio in the city. It's Tuesday nights from 6-6:30pm. She loved her first class as she loves dancing. The only bummer part was seeing all the other little girls in little tutu's and outfits. Callie was the only one who didn't have it but she wasn't really concerned, she got to dance!

What a Great Day

We were in Toronto for the weekend and I decided to go on an adventure with Callie. We left Susan's house and I pointed to the CN Tower and told Callie "that is where we are going." I don't think she grasped the enormity of it at the time, but the whole way there every time the tower came into sight she said "there it is daddy!" We took her first streetcar ride... This is the face of a truly happy and excited little girl.

Happy Girl on her first streetcar ride

I snapped this pic just for kicks.

Big Girl

We grabbed lunch at the base of the tower and got our tickets for the "spaceship" ride as we called it. She got a bigger thrill out of the elevator ride than the actual observation area. We walked to the area where they have the glass floor - what a wierd sensation to step out on that glass. It was a little unnerving at first, but then got easier as time went on, but Callie held on pretty tight to my hand.

Glass Floor in CN Tower

After leaving the tower we stopped in the gift shop to play with Lego for 20 minutes. Mindless fun, but all part of the adventure - the idea was to do whatever we wanted. I wanted to get some ice cream so off we went, I didn't have any cash so we headed away from the street vendors near Rogers Centre to a more retail area. Our walk was interrupted when Callie came across a rain puddle. I remember finding a lot of joy in splashing in a puddle as a kid, so who am I to deny Callie that joy just in the interest of keeping shoes dry... More mindless fun.

Splish-splash

Wheeeee

We stopped at what is called the Franklin Children's Garden where they have these bronze rabbits. Callie had to sit on every one of them before we left. I don't know how many there are, but there are lots...

Giddy-Up

I could hear an outdoor concert from where we were. Since I am out of the loop I had no idea there was a Toronto International Film Festival block party going on. We walked up the street to listen to some music and see what was going on. When we got there I realized there was lots going on. We found a section where they were doing activities for the kids - there was face painting, balloons and a jumpy castle. We waited in line for the face painting first - it was a long wait and Callie got a bear face. She was pretty good, but got fidgety when they painted her nose. By this time Callie was starting to show she was tired... A tired little bear.

My little bear

A tired little bear.

After the face painting Callie still wanted to get a balloon. After almost an hour and a little diversion to the jumpy castle where Callie got too scared to jump Callie finally had her balloon. While standing in line I saw this perfect mermaid design that I knew Callie would love...

Ariel Balloon

By this time, I was hungry and we both were tired. Time to head back home. We started the walk to Queen Street and jumped on the streetcar for the quick ride home. All in all we covered several kilometers on foot, missed a valuable nap and I never got my ice cream... But there wasn't a single tear shed... By either of us.

We both had fun... Lots of fun...

A Quiet Sunday evening!

We had a busy couple of days and this past Sunday evening we relaxed with Callie while watching Finding Nemo. Daddy of course was a bit more tired and tried napping on the couch. Callie decided to use Daddy as a big pillow. Kind of cute actually.

What an imagination!

Callie decided to make a fort on the front steps of our house on a Monday evening. Her fort consisted of shoes and lots of them. It's kind of sad how many shoes we have in our front hallway of the house. Hmm, i guess it's time to purge some.

Then of course she decided to relax while daddy cleaned up the fort.

You will be Missed

Mom and Dad are moving from Norval to Guelph. Leaving behind a few friends who wanted to throw them a little party. We all got together at a little pub called the Copper Kettle Pub. They closed the place down for us - the food was good and so were the drinks. Fun was had by all. I can tell they will be missed, but we will be glad to have them closer to us. I snapped a few photos of the event.

The Lunatic

Callie loves to play in parks. She will run from slide to swing, back to slide... She also loves, loves, loves chocolate.

The result a dirty face and electrified hair.

A Lazy Sunday Afternoon

On Sunday Callie wanted to play outside, so we sat outside and just enjoyed the fresh air. I took the opportunity to snap a few photos, I liked a few and applied a few Photoshop actions to add to them a bit.

It was an overcast day, but still beautiful out.

I also snapped a pic of a tulip from our garden. The color was more vibrant than I usually get. I think it was the overcast weather...

Mommy can i have a band aid

Callie is big into band aids. Unsure why but she thinks she has a boo boo everywhere. Well yesterday after a huge melt down and threatening to go to bed at 6:30 she finally co-operated. Callie asked for a band aid and i thought maybe she'd put it on her knees or somewhere on her body that has a mark on it. Instead she put it on her mouth as if to say she was going to be quiet.

Callies new friend

Last weekend we went and spent some time with some much needed friends. Upon arrival Callie learned that our friends Jess and Aaron have a cat. Callie loves animals and couldn't wait to start playing with Dusty. He is an adorable grey siamese cat. A bit tepermental but he was pretty good with Callie. He even came by and sat in front of Callie which she was all excited about.

Callie's big girl bike!

A girlfriend of mine passed along her boy's bike. I don't care if it's a boy or girls bike they get expensive. Plus Callie has no preference of color she is just enjoying the fact that she has a bike! Jeff bought her a helmet and oddly enough she loves wearing it. She is still trying to get the hang of riding her bike and would prefer doing it herself, but she hasn't quite figured out the peddling the bike and turning the front wheel both at the same time.

Drinking from the hose...

So Callie loves water and wishes she could go into a pool every day! Instead Jeff was watering the grass and of course Callie wanted to play with the water. She also wanted to stick her tongue out and get some water from the hose.
